While Lighttools Soft Egg Crates (original black) block light in the most dramatic way, the new Ultra Soft Egg Crates are made with a specialized 33% grey reflective material in what we have found to be the optimum grey. Ultra Soft Egg Crates block the same amount of light as the original with a slightly more graduated transition to shadow.
